Here is the step by step tutorial to blow dry your hair
Most of you would have tried using a Blow dryer before. You will need
it the especially in winters, when the wind and wet hair combination
can leave you sick with cold or headaches.
Blow drying follows a rigorous process to avoid hair damage. Lack of proper information on the techniques can leave you with dull, over dried and frizzy hair, which also could carry static, making it more prone to breakage.
So today we will show you how you can perfectly blow dry your hair, and also create some added bounce when you have that extra little time in your hands.
You can bank on brands like Philips, Panasonic and Remington. It’s an investment of a life time if you’re lucky enough and it doesn’t accidentally get damaged. So spending a few extra bucks is better than going for one mode setting blow dryers.
Now that your hair is a bit dry but still wet, separate hair into two sections on two sides viz. left and right. Now set the blow dryer to the lowest temperature and highest wind power setting.
Step 5:
If you just want a normal blowing for drying your hair, then you can follow increase the heat setting to level 2 or for faster drying and to level 3 if you are in a hurry. Follow this up with combing with your paddle brush or comb when hair is completely dry.
Step 7:
Now follow step 4 again holding blow dryer’s handle upwards and blowing downwards along the sections that are left loose and focus on blowing on the roots which are wet.
Change heat setting to medium and wind power to lowest or medium. Do not focus dryer on the roots for more than 30 seconds at each point. It can cause damage. Keep a minimum distance.
Step 8:
When hair at the roots feel dry, open the clip and throw your hair downwards over your head at the front.
Step 9:
Now blow dry your hair with the mouth of the dryer facing upwards and the handle downwards starting from below.
Step 10:
When hair feels a bit bouncy and flowy, shift your hair back and this should be enough to give you that bounce that you wanted.

Here is the step by step tutorial to blow dry your hair:
Step 1:
Shampoo your hair well such that no residue is left behind. Residue of shampoo or unwashed shampoo weighs down hair, thus risking hair fall and scalp irritations. After wash pat dry with a towel. It is never advisable to dry your hair using towel aggressively.Step 2:
It is always best to buy a blow dryer which has at least 3 heat settings viz. Low, Medium and High; and 3 Wind pressure settings. You can bank on brands like Philips, Panasonic and Remington. Step 3:
Start blowing on each side from the bottom by holding hair dryer in such a position that the handle is downwards and the mouth faces upwards targeting the lower sections of locks.Step 4:
When hair in the lower section feels a little dry, change the direction of the dryer so that its mouth is facing downwards. Start blowing from the top and slowly move to the lower sections. Do this on both the sides till you feel that the hair in the top section is completely dry.Step 5:
If you just want a normal blowing for drying your hair, then you can follow increase the heat setting to level 2 or for faster drying and to level 3 if you are in a hurry. Follow this up with combing with your paddle brush or comb when hair is completely dry.
Step 6:
If you want bounce and added volume with a normal blow dry, then use the lowest temperature and highest wind power setting till step 4. Avoid using higher heat settings because we do not want your hair to dry completely. Comb your hair slightly as in step 5. Be very gentle as your under hair is still wet. Now take sections of hair from both the sides and clip them on the top leaving the rest below.Step 7:
Now follow step 4 again holding blow dryer’s handle upwards and blowing downwards along the sections that are left loose and focus on blowing on the roots which are wet.

3 Hair Mask Recipes For All Hair Types
When comes to beauty care, beyond the washing and
conditioning, most of us tend to neglect our hair. Now thanks to the
dirt, pollution, sun and stress we face on a daily basis, our hair tends
to suffer quite a bit. The result more frequent bad hair days and
constantly unmanageable hair.

different hair types. As we live a busy life, I will concentrate on a
set of three different hair masks – for dry, normal and oily hair that

For all you dry haired beauties, if you want your hair to
be super manageable, less frizzy and at the same time not weighed down,
then here is a gorgeous mask for you with all-natural ingredients.
- The first thing you should do is take at about 4 tablespoons of honey and add 1 teaspoon of pasted almonds (4 skinned almonds pasted with ½ tablespoon rosewater) to it.
- Beat 2 tablespoon cream till its slightly fluffy.
- Add the honey-almond combination.
- Mix this together, and apply it on the hair from root to the tip.
- Keep this paste on for at least 30 minutes (it is better if you keep this for about 1 hour)
- Then wash off thoroughly with cold water, so that the mixture is completely washed.
- Apply a light shampoo to wash the hair and let air-dry completely.

Mask for Normal Hair:
This is possibly one of the easiest masks to make, and it stays in the fridge for up to a week, so make it and store it.

A lot of people are afraid to put a mask on oily hair for
the fear that it it might become even oilier. However, this hair mask
made for oily hair and hence works perfectly for oily hair.
- Take 1 tablespoon of plain water and add 1 large pinch of fruit salt to it. If you don’t have fruit salt then you can replace this with eno or even baking soda.
- Add to it 2 pasted amlas (gooseberries), or 1 egg white beaten till soft peaks have formed in it.
- Apply this on the hair, from root to the tip, avoiding the scalp.
- Keep it for 20-30 minutes and then rinse off thoroughly to make sure no residue remains.

10 Ways To Protect Your Hair From The Summer Sun
10 Ways To Protect Your Hair From The Summer Sun
The summer sun is already starting to beat down in many
parts of India, and you are readying yourself to face the heat. While
your sun-screens and sun-shades and hats are all set, what are you doing
for your hair this summer?
Nothing? Well, that is certainly not great news for your crowning glory!Your hair gets harmed in many different ways during summers – over exposure to sun’s harmful rays, sweat, and humidity and of course, spending too much time in a swimming pool aka chlorinated water. While all of these are reasons enough to lead to a bad hair day and cause long-term damage, a little pre-emptive care is all your hair needs to stay beautiful!
While you reach out for all products that work wonders on your hair, remember to check out a few things first:
- Scalp type – oily, dry, dandruff, itchy, combination or any other medical condition
- Hair type – straight, curly, wavy, coloured, treated, permed, straightened or any other
1. Avoid Too Many Cosmetics:
Summers already dries your hair out and causes damage to
them. So make sure you go easy on any chemical hair treatments during
this period. Avoid too much colouring, whether at the spa or at home. If
you really want to colour your hair or change the colour during summer,
try and do it a month or two before the sun really hits.
2. Love Your Conditioner:
While the sun is drying out your hair, make sure you help
restore some moisture and life in it by using a rinse-out conditioner.
Get one that suits your hair type and texture. Also, if you are going
for a swim, remember to put on a leave-in conditioner to your hair and
wear a hair mask.
3. Shampoo With Care:
While you feel like shampooing your hair every day, doing
so will actually cause more harm than good. Too much shampoo can dry up
your scalp and hair even more. If you tend to sweat more on the scalp
and if your hair gets greasy and sweaty easily, go for a mild shampoo
that is especially good for summers. Shampoo only on the scalp, not the
hair, and as you wash your hair, the suds will rinse down, cleaning up
your hair too. Putting shampoo separately on your hair and hair tips
will dry them out.
4. Swimming:
In summers, you absolutely love to hit the pool, right? If you’re going swimming, remember DO NOT shampoo before you go for a swim, as this will rob your hair of all protective oils and will make it extra vulnerable to the chemicals and salt in the water. Once you’re out of the pool and have taken a quick shower, use a shampoo that contains ethylene tetra-acetic acid. This will remove any harmful effects of chlorine that the water may have.5. Avoid Heat:
The sun is already putting too much heat on your hair, so avoid the additional heat as much as you can. Go slow on the blow dryer, and if required, wash your hair half an hour earlier so that they get ample time to air-dry. Avoid using the styling iron and curlers and let them be as natural as they can be.
6. Trim Them:
The tips of your hair takes a lot of beating during the summer. This is when you see split ends and dry tips, and this is neither healthy for your hair, nor do they look good. Summer is the ideal time to give yourself a new haircut, but if you don’t really want to shorten your hair, go for a small trim that will take care of the ends and bring back life to your hair.7. Care For Your Colour:
If you have recently coloured your hair, or have coloured hair, you would want to take extra care of them in the summers, as this is the season when they sustain maximum damage, leading to colour fading and excessive hair dryness. While selecting hair care products, go for ones that are specially made for coloured or treated hair. If you have recently coloured your hair, try going out less often in the sun, especially when it’s at its peak. If you absolutely need to, try covering your hair with a hat or a scarf.8. Sun Protection:
If you have too much work outdoors and are in the sun often, try going for hair products that have a good amount of SPF in them. You may also want to go for a special hair-mask or sun-screen product that is made for your hair.
9. Control Frizz:
The summer heat makes your hair extra dry, making it frizzy. Try and control your hair from becoming too frizzy by tying it up. Use the hot months to show off your hair in different styles, from braids to ponytails to updos, knots and buns. Not only does it keep your hair protected from frizz, it also reduces the sweating.10. Lots Of Fluids:
While you may be doing all of the above to protect your hair from the sun, if you’re not drinking enough water, you’re not going to achieve anything. Your hair, and your skin, will benefit immensely from the amount of water and extra fluids that you have, so go for cooling liquids that will help keep your hair healthy and let you feel cooler. Also include as many fresh fruits and vegetables in your diet as you can.Simple DIY Hair Care Masks:
A. Egg and Mayo mask to care for dry and damaged hair1. 1/4th cup plain yoghurt
2. 1/4th cup mayonnaise
3. 1 egg white
4. Blend all the 3 ingredients together
5. Cover your hair with the mixture and spread it evenly by running a wide-toothed comb through your hair
6. Leave on for 30 minutes and rinse off with plain water
B. Deep Conditioning mask to bring back moisture and shine

2. ½ cup olive oil
3. 3 egg yolks
4. Mix everything in a bowl and apply to your hair, especially the ends.
5. If you can, wrap your hair in a towel and leave on for about 20 minutes.
6. Rinse out using plain water
There now you know all about how to fight away the summer effects on your hair! Go out and have some fun now!
Hair loss
Hair loss:
Methi is extremely effective in strengthening hair from the roots and treating follicular problems. The seeds contain hormone antecedents that enhance hair growth and help in rebuilding hair follicles. The herb also contain proteins and nicotinic acid; protein enriched diets have always been encouraged to diminish hair loss and stimulate hair growth. High concentration of protein in fenugreek partially explains the herb’s curative ability on balding hair. The lecithin in methi helps in strengthening dry and damaged hair. The natural tonic helps in moisturising the hair and bringing back the lustre and bounce.(image 3)Method of application:
There are different ways of application:
a.
Soak methi in water for some time and make a paste. Apply coconut oil
to the hair first, and then apply the paste on your scalp. For best
results, allow the hair to absorb the mask for at least an hour before
washing it.
b. You can also mix powdered methi seeds with coconut oil to form a
paste. Then massage the paste on your hair. You will notice the positive
results within 2 to 3 weeks of application.
Paste of methi seeds mixed with coconut milk helps prevent hair loss, reduces dandruff and promotes hair growth.
2. Dandruff:
There are various treatments and procedures to treat dandruff and one of the most basic and and effective cure is using methi seeds. It is also effective against dry scalp and dermatitis. (image 5)Method of application:
There are different ways of doing this:
a.
Take 2 tablespoons of methi seeds and soak them in water overnight. By
morning the seeds will soften, ground them in fine paste. Apply the
paste on your scalp and leave it for half an hour.
b. Soak the methi seeds overnight, make a paste and apply it with
curd. Rinse well with water after an hour. This prevents dandruff and
other scalp irritations.c. Another treatment involves crushing one table spoon of methi seeds and mixing it with warm oil. After the mixture cools down, apply it on your scalp and leave it for 2 hours. Shampoo your hair thoroughly to remove all traces of the paste.
d. Make a paste using methi powder and water and apply the paste directly on the scalp and wash after half an hour. People with severe dandruff problem can leave the paste for an hour before rinsing.
e. Make a paste of ground methi seeds mixed with cider vinegar. Leave it for not more than 30 minutes. This mask is good for treating dandruff and dry itchy scalp. (image 4)
3. Conditioning:
Fenugreek seeds contain lecithin, an emulsifying substance. When soaked in water, the seeds produce a slippery substance which gives hair shine. This quality makes fenugreek a great ingredient for hair conditioning. Other natural conditioners like curd and oil do not give the slippery effect to the hair as methi does. The mucilage of fenugreek replicates that slippery effect.
Method of application:
a. Soak the whole ground seeds in boiling water and leave them
overnight. When the seeds turn slimy to touch, grind them into a paste
and apply the mixture on your scalp and roots, then to the whole length
of the hair. Do not let the paste dry completely as it will be difficult
to wash off then. Wash it when it is moist. Covering the hair with a
plastic bag will keep it moist for a long time. Let it remain for 30
minutes and wash it off.b. Mixing ground fenugreek seeds or leaves with shoe flower will condition your hair and cool the scalp
c. You can also make an herbal tonic using methi seeds. Boil methi seeds and let them soak completely in coconut oil overnight. Strain the oil and massage this oil thrice a week to get shiny lustrous hair. It will even help to reduce hair fall to a great extent.
